Disaster-related Statistics Framework (DRSF)

DRSF Case Studies and Working Papers

DRSF is a guideline for statistics, which includes descriptions for a basic range of disaster-related statistics and methodological guidance and tools for implementation. DRSF is designed for use by national agencies to improve quality and harmonization of statistics in support of monitoring and achievement of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.  This Handbook is the result of multiple rounds of online consultations and other activities of the Asia-Pacific Expert group.

Since its release in 2018, the manual has been used by multiple national agencies and organisations and has been serving as a guideline for implementation. To continue to improve supports in disaster-related statistics, ESCAP updated the guidebook in September 2021 to address points and feedback submitted by some users of the DRSF. The update was made to some tables. The revised handbook and the respective excel tables are available below:

The main text of the statistical framework is complemented by a repository of descriptions of current methodological practices and pilot studies from countries and international organizations. These examples help to elaborate application of DRSF and provide a reference for other countries when developing or modifying their own systems.
